Don’t Think About It …….. DO IT!

by Frank Reed on March 17, 2008

Well, I have talked about it for long enough and have even sold solutions to clients for it but now I am actually doing it: I’m blogging. I blog therefore I am.

I’ve gotta say that it’s more fun than I expected. For a long time I had some level of fear of “putting myself out there”, so to speak. I went through the “What do I have to say?” stage and kept myself away from jumping in. There was a lot of talk and a lot of thought that went into this whole process. I would even write posts that had nowhere to go because I had no blog to post them on. Well, those days are over and it’s really a pretty darn good feeling.

I have already relaxed with the concern about saying something that would appear dumb or misinformed. Thankfully, when you are the father of three kids you understand what it really means to be dumb and misinformed (and they will tell you!). Just going out and sharing my experience in business and the search marketing field specifically is really a harmless activity. I only see upside potential in doing this. Sure, I may write something incredibly stupid at some point and get someone fired up about something or other but so what? If I just stick to being as honest and open as I can and write from my heart and my experience then that’s all I have … and that’s fine.

So may I suggest for all of you out there wondering whether you should start a blog for your business, hobby or personal outlet to just go for it. I mean really, it’s a great big world out there and there is plenty of room for all of us. In fact, you have something of value that could be of help to me right now but I may never get a chance to hear or read it. Like Henry Rollins screamed many years ago “Don’t think about it….DO IT! Write about, baby and …… just DO IT!” Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Thanks and have a great day!
