I had a quick thought the other day. I realize that many will be shocked just by that revelation but there’s actually more to it.
Since my last post was about social media and how we start to sound like a bunch of hounds in the pound barking at everything and nothing all at once, I started thinking about the self-promotion noise that makes up a lot of the social media industry space. Not so much the rest of social media. The rest of social media, outside those of us who have completely lost sight of it not just being about the industry itself, is interested in learning and sharing etc. We talk that game in the social media industry but, face it, we are just a bunch of self-promoting schmucks that are starting to sound pretty stupid, IMO.
Now my ‘revelation’. When I put together the Frank Thinking idea it was more of a goof but what I really wanted was honest and frank discussion about Internet marketing, social media and the various business applications.
Instead, I wonder if I don’t just look like the rest of the masses. Did I out-pun myself and unintentionally just look like every other self-promoting schlub in the space? Maybe and maybe not.
Today, for anyone who reads this post I would like for you to consider leaving a comment about Internet marketing and / or social media that you may not think fits anywhere else. Be honest. Let it rip. If you think something in the industry is great then let us know. If you think something is broken let us know.
The idea behind calling this Frank Thinking was more about open, honest and productive communication. It’s not about me being an expert and people flocking to me for advice. What a messed up world that would be!
No, this blog is for anyone who stops by who wants to truly contribute to the discussion around Internet marketing and social media in the business world. Now if you come here and abuse the privilege you will not be asked to leave but you will be ignored. If you think this is a great place to spam etc you will be eliminated.
As we approach Veteran’s Day here in the US I will invoke the idea that I am looking for a few good men and women who are interested in growing and helping others to grow. If you are interested, welcome. If that’s not your thing then come back whenever you want and we’ll be glad to help if we can.
Frank thinking is not about me. It’s about being honest, open and frank about what we do and why we do it in the Internet marketing and social media space. It’s about your thoughts much more than mine. I don’t know a lot and I need you to teach me more. That’s what I am looking for. That’s what this Frank is thinking.
