Back on December 15, 2008 I stated the following boldly to my tens of readers.
1. To write fewer words but convey more meaning
2. To get to know my readers for real
3. To provide information that can be turned into action
4. To give real life examples of SMB internet marketing success (your suggestions for profiles and / or interview subjects are welcomed)
5. To see a true community grow via my blog as well as through Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
Well, I am here to call partial BS on myself. I am now 5 months past this tremendous statement of direction and purpose and what has happened? Some of it but not all of it.
- It may be impossible for me to write fewer words because I may just be typing’s version of a gasbag.
- I don’t know any of you for real (whatever the heck that means anyway).
- I occasionally give actionable information (although I have put together an e book that you may find interesting regarding Internet marketing strategy for the rest of us).
- I have given one success story but that’s over 5 months so nothing to brag about there.
- Lastly, if my blog were a community it would be wracked with foreclosure signs.
Just felt the need to narc on myself. Have a great day.

Frank, Frank, Frank…
When I read this, I smiled. For two reasons.
1. I love it when a blogger is so open about his or her perceived “faults” – that’s the sign of a great blogger.
2. I don’t think you’re being very fair on yourself.
Looking at your archives, you’ve been blogging just over a year. In that time, you’ve been selected to be syndicated by the iEntry and WebProNews business networks and you’re a regular writer for Andy Beal’s marketing whizkids team.
You’ve got a very healthy Google PageRank of 5, which means a good few other bloggers or publications must be referencing you.
Anyone that I’ve ever heard read your blog has always asked the same question” “Why is this guy not more known? He’s brilliant!”.
Community is a funny thing. Maybe your syndication has had an effect on visitors here, because they’re reading you elsewhere? Or maybe you’re providing more answers instead of questions (which isn’t a fault, by the way).
But I know the people I hear speak of you are full of praise, and you consistently make me think whenever I read you.
I’ve always been of the impression that a blog that can make just one person think has incredibly more value than a blog that makes hundreds or people go “Meh”.
You don’t make people go “Meh”, big guy.
Keep up the great work.

Danny, Danny, Danny ……
Thanks as always for coming by and being heard. It’s always a pleasure. Thanks as well for the compliments.
I do find it a bit un-nerving as to whether anyone is gaining value or even reading the blog. That comes from a healthy sense of insecurity woven into the fabric that is me oh so many years ago when I was Frank thinking about thinking.
The Internet and all the options it has is a tough place but I can truly say that when you meet someone like you solely due to activities online it makes the effort worth it.
Thanks again for input. Maybe someday I’ll get to look you in the eye, shake your hand and buy you a beer. That would be pretty cool. I’m heading over to your virtual place now to see what’s happening in your Internet neighborhood. Always fun to find out what’s happening there.
Take care and have an awesome day.
