Tomorrow, I will be speaking to another nice group of folks interested in internet marketing. We are meeting at the
Morrisville Chamber of Commerce building right on the outskirts of the Research Triangle (RTP) in central North Carolina. It’s a real nice place to be as I have said here before. This chamber in particular is working harder than any other chamber I have been around because they care. I think that just the idea of caring in this world is not given enough attention but that is a discussion for another place and another day.
Today is very different though. I have a trusted advisor that has suffered a loss. He is part of C12 which is a group I belong to. C12 is an organization that helps people like myself run their business in a way that aligns with our Christian faith. It tends to make me really popular with some people and anathema to others. It’s cool either way.
Today Internet marketing means little to nothing. A very dear family member of my friend passed away today after a long battle with cancer. While we all wring our hands about the economy, wonder what direction the government will take us and whether executives should return bonus money there is life and death going on all around us. People are experiencing the real deal while many of the rest of us are spared that difficulty for one more day.
So for today think about him and his family. If you are inclined to pray, please do so. If you do something else out of compassion for another then do that as well. Any support is welcome because all are welcome here.
The great irony or paradox of this whole thing is this: While we mourn the passing of his loved one we celebrate his loved one’s going home. Those who would understand this may even experience a twinge of envy. Sounds odd, doesn’t it? Well, if you believe what I believe it would sound as normal as saying that the sky is blue. It is hope filled. It sounds so much bigger than the economy, credit markets or anything else of this place.
My thoughts and prayers are with my friend and his family today. I am sure there are those that you would be able to think of from your life as well that are in similar circumstances. My prayers are with you and yours as well.
My hope along with my friend’s, however, is with Jesus Christ and because of that today is a very good day.

Thanks for the perspective Frank.
Frank, I’m one of those people from the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce. Your perspective has encouraged me as a believer in Christ. My husband and I will be praying. Praise God the cancer battle is over, and this family member is as they were created to be, enjoying God forever. Thanks for encouraging me as a young person entering the work force in how to serve Christ and own a business…
Carly–
Great comment. Me, too!
@Carly – Well, needless to say, your comment made my day. I am very happy to help in any way with any questions you may have regarding faith and work.
